Now that's a good idea.  There is a dataformat used for scientific data called
NetCDF.  Standards conforming netcdf files have a history attribute, and every
time you pass them through some program to modify them, that program will add
the operation (usually as a copy of the command line) to the history.

No reason you couldn't add history metadata to the yuv4mpeg header.
