The way I retain that information (and it travels with copies made of the DVD) is place all the scripts, still pictures used, etc) into a ROM directory at the top level of the DVD. DVD players only look at the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS directories and ignore everything else. Same type of thing can be done for VCDs/SVCDs with the '--add-file=' option to vcdimager.
It's been interesting to go back and see the old proceedures that were used at one time.
