Just some thoughts and XP I have had with my new Athlon 3200 (Barton 2.2GHz) and ASUS A7NAX (nforce2) MoBo using RH9 with a 2.4.20-18-9custom. Note: Video is ATI Radeon 9000 (250). Sound is i810_audio (nforce2 AC97 Audio Controller (MCP)).
I am encoding a test clip (2737 frames) recorded with a dc10+ @ -f8 -N 1.0 and the VIDEO is fine (11fps with -M2 and 10fps @ M0). However, I cannot get the audio to record. I'm forced to use these parameters as all others cause lavrec to segfault/dier crash give warnings: lavrec -in -fa -d1 -a16 -s --use-read test.avi and if i vary ANY of the audio params, except -a0 of course, lavrec segfaults or the system locks. I have tried various -R[123l] and -l params to no avail always I get one big silent wave file, in stereo.
