I'm not sure that's the same thing I was seeing from --reduce-hf. A good description of the ghosts is to think of how ripples in a smooth pond would look from a single pebble dropped into the center. Imagine the same effect next to sharp edges in the video and you will have a good idea of what it looks like. Actually, I've seen the identical ringing from still image jpeg done poorly, and since mpeg at it's core is really just a variant on still image jpeg, it's not surprising that the same artifacts can occur. > I'll have to try some clean DV footage in sunlight to see what the > effects are in that case. All of mine were from broadcast (cable) captures of NTSC over DC10+'s. As I indicated in another message, I did not see the ringing effect in the source mjpegs when played over a DC10+, only in the mpeg stream played over an H+, and only when using the --reduce-hf flag. __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
