Hi,

I have the following hardware:
- BX440 motherboard with Pentium III 450
- Hauppauge WinTV with Nicam stereo (= bt878, works correctly)
- Pinnacle Miro DC10+

The only problem is capturing from the DC10+.

1) when using the kernel zoran driver

Using the zoran driver in the vanilla 2.4.19 kernel, I can capture.
I have no dropped frames, audio sync frame dropping/inserting is okay,
etc.

BUT: once in a while, the capturing with lavrec stops (ie: timer stops,
and after a while, I get the well-known "error syncing on a buffer,
timer expired" message.

Every time, it happens _exactly_ when a sync() to write the data to disk
has been called. I can set "--file-flush" lower, but it does not help;
when set too low, I also get lost frames and the time between retrieval
of each frame starts drifting.

After that, I can restart lavrec and continue recording; the kernel
driver has reinitialized.

2) when using the cvs version of the zoran driver

I can capture, but I have the same problem, but slightly worse. The
new driver will (instead of returning an error) try to reinitialize the
chips until the capturing can go on. So lavrec will not stop with "error
syncing on a buffer" but just get a few lost frames.

And sometimes, this reinitializing won't work, and lavrec will keep
losing frames from that point. In the resulting video, I get tons of
identical frames, followed by the next frame, also repeated many times,
and so on.

Is this a known problem?
I have seen t his "error syncing on a buffer" a few times in the mailing
list archives, but it seems every time someone had this problem, they
couldn't even record any frames. I _can_ record frames; sometimes a full
hour with the 2.4.19 shipped zoran driver, but I get the error sooner or
later.

Thanks in advance.
Kind regards,
Jonas
