Anyone here running the tools on SuSE 8.1? I've just loaded the out-of-the-box
modules and it all looks about right. The driver is in SuSE's kernel; the
zoran_update script runs without any fuss and the modules are reported as
loaded.

Only problem is, xawtv doesn't work! When it starts it says:

This is xawtv-3.76, running on Linux/i686 (2.4.19-4GB-SMP)
ioctl: VIDIOCSCHAN(0,Composite,flags=0x0,type=2,norm=2): Invalid argument
ioctl: VIDIOCSCHAN(0,Composite,flags=0x0,type=2,norm=3): Invalid argument
v4l: timeout (got SIGALRM), hardware/driver problems?

and sits there ignoring everything (including RMB) until I hit Ctrl-C a few
times. The modules go to a used state when xawtv is running, so it's
definitely talking to the card.

The same PC dual boots with SuSE-7.1 (heavily modified these days) and the
card works fine there, so it's not the hardware.

Anyone know what the problem is before I start delving and recompiling?
