Are you talking about a recursive resolver ("caching dns server")
or the resolver used internally (i.e. the thing which reads resolv.conf
and resolves names for most parts of the OS)?
There is work in progress for the former (by moving to unbound, as
noted in other replies) but not afaik the latter.
