The CPU is not going to cause any issue, it will be the rest of the machine you should be wondering about. If you want low power consumption and low cost, I'd suggest a small PIII or Celeron based system, hard to beat for the price (usually, free!). IF the new, cool stuff has any real power savings, you are unlikely to ever recoup the initial cost over recycled hardware. Add an IDE to CF adapter and a CF for a disk (more savings that will probably never be recovered), you can make it even quieter and save a few more watts. You should be able to get to around 35W or less at idle (which is what the machine will be most of the time). Nick.
