If I try to run it on an external feed, a light will come up but the drive still feeds on the USB.
Also the power brick you are using could be broken/miswired. Can you verify power consumption on the external feed for the drives/HUB? Mayby by using a laboratory power supply or an ampermeter? regards tilo
