Linux options seem to focus on filtering and inspection which IMHO is dangerous and less secure than dropping/prevention especially with Linux tools. Good point, the time spent would probably be better spent being open with them. One benefit over gmail that smtpd can nicely provide with automatic folder creation on an OpenBSD setup is disposable addresses where your kids will see more of what they want and less of what others want them to unless they choose to. Not sure that is worth the time spent though for the few that get past gmails scanning.
