Please try to force 11g mode by hand:

% ifconfig iwi0 mode 11g

I'm pretty sure the firmware crashes when scanning channels in
the 5GHz band.  This bug should affect 2915ABG adapters only.
Scanning of those channels was disabled in 3.8.
