My laptop is running fvwm, from the system, because I reinstall often enough and rebuild enough packages that anything else is a chore.
Besides, I have weird keyboard shortcuts, and I haven't been able to find anything else that caters to the idiosyncrasies I caught years ago. As editor, I use vim if it's installed, and downgrade to vi while it's building. I have a small script named "vim" that calls the most appropriate editor, and can at least emulate "vim -" with vi.
