I believe this one product (and their PCMCIA NICs) is what created the 3Com == Good NICs association in people's minds. They sold a *LOT* of these -- The 3c509B and 3c509C attest more to the many years of production than to any real redesign or bug fixes. Thinking back to the late 90s, my recollection isn't that 3Com cards were all that great as much everything else on the market sucked even worse. These days I deploy Intel "em" cards for the same reason, and because work cares more about the name brand than the price tag. But with all the rave reviews here, I'm going to give SysKonnect a try.
