Well, some of the stories told in this thread were certainly entertaining. Anyway, figured I'd follow up with the results of the weekends work.
Using the following hardware: 440BX motherboard 2 Linksys EG1032(sk) cards P-II 450 MHz 3.6 since I didn't have any 3.7 CD's of floppys around. It's finally pushing the promised 100 Mbit, though at a ~90% interrupt load. Since I don't see myself getting a fatter pipe for home any time soon, this will suffice :) Thanks to all who responded. Oh and Andrew. > I've never encountered an sk card, but that's probably > because I haven't gone shopping for gigabit stuff. If they really are > that cheap, though, I might just have to start! The Linksys cards I mentioned are available in lots of places around here. Given that Sweden doesn't exactly seem to get a whole lot of variety in hardware choices, I'd think they should be available near you as well. Cost me around 280 SEK, which is like $350 given todays weak USD. The DLink cards(DGE530?) are available as well, but I try to stay away from DLink. Again, thanks all. Johan
