1. Ensure that you have your network DNS entries correct for each client
on your network (DHCP can create these entries automatically if configured
correctly.)
2. Ensure the DNS information in EXT.OPS is correct and pointing to your
network DNS servers
3. Remove the static IP assignments from your EXT.OPS entries (the most
time consuming of your process. I recommend using a scripting tool if you have
a lot of client entries)
4. Test, test, and more test. Expect glitches.
5. Eventually you will iron out all the gotchas and from then on you are
good to go. Just create a new client entry if you want it managed. DHCP and DNS
will take care of the rest.

Example:

Client: LAB01
Old Static IP: 172.169.0.13
New DHCP IP (dynamically assigned): 10.10.0.28

DNS should resolve "LAB01" to 10.10.0.28. Meditech will query your network's
DNS for an IP address for LAB01.

Subject: IP Addresses

We are currently using static IP addresses for our computers and entering this
information in Meditech under EXT.OPS, 1.System Information, 20. Enter/Edit
Termservers, PCs, RemoteHosts with the Model? being TELNET EZ. Our new network
administrator wants to go to DHCP. How is everyone else operating? Static IP
or DHCP? If we switch to DHCP what do we have to do to make Meditech work? We
are currently MAGIC 5.4 but will be upgrading to 5.6.1 this year.
