I don't know enough about deportations but it seems that the executive branch
may not have the personnel to deport on the scale that Trump has promised
because
(1) his rhetoric has caused attempted border crossings to plummeted inches
first month,

and
(2) he now has to do operations in cities and towns across the country. The
places with the most undocumented workers are run by Democratic Party
politicians, who would be punished by the voters for assisting Trump.
Hence Trump's Department of Justice deferred prosecution from US federal
charges of New York Mayor Eric Adams in exchange for a promise of cooperation
with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
