Here Walker gives us a good example of the anti-materialist and plain wrong
method of quoting Marx but making sure to do nothing to help understand
political economic reality.

Marx's concept of modes of production is a foundation of the science of
historical materialism. You can try to get away from it, but a) it is real, and
b) Marx insisted on it. Presumably all of us here know his letter to Joseph.
Weydemeyer, March 5, 1852:

“(1) The existence of classes is only bound up with particular historical
phases in the development of production, (2) the class struggle necessarily
leads to the dictatorship of the proletariat, and (3) this dictatorship itself
only constitutes the transition to the abolition of all classes and to a
classless society.” (emphasis added)

Marx did not expurgate his private letter.
