I'm attending an event called Support the Resolution Against Zenith Energy!. For too long, the City of Portland has refused to take action to protect Portlanders from the hazardous fossil fuels of Houston-based Zenith Energy. Since Zenith's 2022 LUCS approval, City officials have repeatedly ignored the concerns of the Portland residents they serve, instead opting to collude with Zenith through backroom negotiations and undemocratic administrative decisions. Most recently, Mayor Wilson betrayed the health and safety of thousands of his constituents by approving Zenith’s LUCS alongside administrators Michael Jordan and Donnie Oliveira. However, this fight is far from over! Councilors Mitch Green and Angelita Morillo are taking a stand for Portland residents by co-sponsoring a resolution to take on Zenith! This resolution calls for an immediate pause on any new permit applications and an investigation into their previous dealings with the City. Come rally in front of City Hall to show your support for councilors Green and Morillo and remind the rest of City Council that we are watching! Gather at 5pm right outside the Fourth Avenue entrance at City Hall Speeches begin at 5:15pm from leaders at 350PDX, DSA, and our other allies in this fight Join the council chambers at 6pm and make sure our voices are heard Light refreshments will be provided.
