Eight years ago I gave a partial answer in the section "Why the Disintegration

Another way to go at the problem might be to figure out: Do the capitalists who 
want to dismantle so much of bourgeois democracy have a sectional interest for 
it, expecting more profits? Or do they see a threat that requires throwing away 
one of the most important supports of the dictatorship of capital, namely, the 
whole parliamentary and constitutional game?
