Quite true. Reject both big business parties in the USA. The alternatives who will debase the results for both major parties by denying them a simple majority of voters and so cannot claim to be representing all Americans.
What the US Supreme Court has done is unconstitutional. To redefine the properties of the presidency into a quasi-monarchical immune presidency is a constitutional revision and cannot be accomplished by the Judiciary alone. Since the presidency was initially set down by the Constitutional Assembly, any further modification requires the reconstitution of the Constitutional Assembly to represent the fundamental organic Civil Society. Dr abrahim -----Original Message----- From: marxmail@groups.io <marxmail@groups.io> On Behalf Of mbaugher via groups.io For a Marxism discussion group, I consider the subject of this thread to be an embarrassment. There is a split among US billionaires, their organizations and institutions on the wisdom of preserving the first US American republic. The Supreme Court decision added dictatorial powers to the imperial US Presidency, which has enabled imperial adventures for decades without Congressional approval. The result has been endless, almost continuous, wars outside of popular control. US wars last decades rather than years today and provide a more reliable revenue stream to the war industries and their politicians - in the Democratic and Republican Parties. The elimination of military conscription has further eroded the ability of the US American people to exercise any control over the US military and foreign wars. The Supreme Court has brought it back home by giving the US President freedom from prosecution for domestic crimes in addition to foreign ones. There are wealthy and powerful people and institutions that oppose this process, however, hence the split. So, do we take sides to preserve the established order or do we advocate an independent course to continue to fight the established order? It wasn't just Biden who provided the bombs to destroy Gaza and billions of dollars that serve to endorse and support the colonization of the West Bank, it's the Democratic or Republican parties. We need to oppose them and not join them. Jacobin is a good place to intervene in the politics of the US Democratic Party, as is the DSA. But that is foreign to the traditions of US revolutionary socialism. We may debate what Louis Proyect would or would not do on this list, but I know he wouldn't do that.
