Michael Roberts' essay describes it but doesn't offer a clue about to fight
globalism, which is what I was posting about. That's a general problem on the
left, I think. At least the British Labour Party was split on Brexit and
ignored the economic fact that closest neighbors are the most important trading
partners. China Inc. is not an important trading partner but was created over
the past half century by neoliberal US to undercut the power of US workers.

I don't see how allowing a flood of $14k electric vehicles into the US is any
act of international working class solidarity. For one thing, Chinese prices
do not take account of the environmental costs of producing the products. And
chip production uses more electricity than chip operation. Roberts' charts and
projections don't consider environmental destruction, which is likely to change
the curves.

I have no problem with doubling their price of $14k EVs to address the
environmental damage done to the planet in a manufacturing powerhouse that has
much weaker pollution laws than in the US and no independent unions protecting
their workers. Otherwise, the reward for environmental protections and
unionization is to be put out of business by foreign manufacturers that face
neither.

Mark
