There are stages in the real capacity of socialist development that are held back and limited by the realty of being isolated and constantly under attack from capitalist countries and forces. This goes back to the old question of whether socialism in one country was even possible. The answer turns out to be yes -- but. The USSR, for all it's flaws, supported socialist development anywhere else but also held back different models. Even today, the US and other capitalist countries continue to strangle, invade and threaten any country that dares break with their hegemonic control, demanding ownership of their resources or trying to build a socialist system. Lenin, Fidel Castro and others offer much we can learn from -- as does the historical experience, good and bad, of countries which have worked to build socialist systems.
