Sreekanth,

Why do you think so? Is it because of the number of mails? If you have
gone back, the discussions are based on mutual respect and not flame
war. People accept their mistakes, and it helped at least me to get
different views. Instead of a political fight, it clearly shows a
model for great debates. Why should we be afraid of questions of
differing opinions? Diverse views are always important in any
democracy.

Ministers are bound by duty. Are we bound by such a duty? Here every
one has their own views and ideas of what they want to do, what they
expect them to do etc. So the practical way is avoid threads that does
not interest someone than forcing people to stop discussing. I don't
think, everyone reads, every single mail that comes to the list.

We are not in a traditional teacher student setup, where asking
questions or having different opinion is considered bad. I was
attending a seminar yesterday in Pune and I asked one question each to
3 speakers, and when I asked the third questions, the VC of Gujarat
university, became so angry and fumed at me, "why are you asking so
many questions?" One does not have to agree on everything to work
together on things they agree on. I have learned so many new things
from this thread and Siju is going to teach many basic things in his
coming days. I'm sure it will be greatly useful to any new comer.
Please ask questions when you have doubts. Why do we worry about
debates going on an on? It will eventually stop when people run out of
arguments. Plus there is no artificial limits to number of mails in a
thread. Also it is not a one on one dialog either, there are more than
5 people in that thread. When we are discussing about very basic
things - basis of ones beliefs, it tends to be passionate and
confrontational. But as long as we keep our cool and respect others,
we should be OK.

It in not bad to argue, when it is based on facts, logic and respect.
I believe we have those ingredients in our debates. As long as we
don't go to personal fights, please continue arguing. It is not just a
tech support group.

You have to keep reminding your government that you don't get your
rights from them; you give them permission to rule, only so long as
they follow the rules: laws and constitution.
