Let's get a few things straight. 1. In the first place, aside what you say to appreciate the differences, what exactly were you trying to do that required root access, as that is normally strongly discouraged unless it be a very last resort.
2. Summarize for me the process that you took to enable the root account, as depending on how you did it... (there are several ways...) that could explain why Voiceover isn't working.
