I have had a similar experience to yours. Mine is with the New York Times.
What appears in the New York Times app which is a subscription is often
quite different from what is in the NFB Newsline version. I have no idea why
this is the case.

While I have great appreciation for what NFB Newsline offers, I have found
that I prefer the subscription directly from the New York Times. Of course,
you have to pay for the subscription and NFB Newsline is free.
