I didn't see an answer to your question, so I'll try to help here, although 
Anne may also want to add details.  With Kobo, and apparently also with the 
Nook, you can log into your account on their web page and access the books in 
your library that you've purchased.  Kobo was set up to provide eBook file 
access well before there was a dedicated eReader for your purchased books, so 
the account web site may be easier to navigate for direct book downloads.  
However, you should also be able to download ePubs of your Nook purchases 
directly to your computer.  Then you can simply open downloaded book with the 
Adobe Digital Editions application and read them.  I've checked that externally 
purchased eBooks with ADE DRM can be opened and read in Adobe Digital Editions.
