Hello Mel,

First, let me answer what I think is your question, and also give the URL of
what I believe is the web page you are trying to use. Guessing from the title
"21-day Meditation Challenge" and the address of chopra.com, I did a Google
search and found this promos page with an MP3 download:
http://promos.chopra.com/cdcollections/
I've retitled the subject of this post. If this is not the page that you are
using, please supply the actual URL. You can copy it by using the Command-L
shortcut to move to the address bar of your Safari browser, then use Command-C
to copy. If you switch to your mail application (e.g. with Command-Tab), you
can paste the URL of the web page you are asking about with Command-V.

Initially you asked:
>>>>>> I want help figuring out how to play an audio clip from this website.
>>>>>> From:21-Day Meditation Challenge <meditationchalle...@chopra.com>
>>>>>> I can't find the play button. My sighted friend has no problem. Any
>>>>>> help is appreciated.
The relevant section of the web page contained the instructions
<begin quote>
Please click the play button to stream the audio.
If you'd like to download the MP3, the instructions are as follows:
STEP 1: right-click on this download link
STEP 2: (for PCs) after right-clicking , choose " save target as " and save to
your computer.
STEP 2: (for MACs) after right-clicking, choose "save link as" and save to your
computer.
<end quote>

OK. The first answer on how to play the audio on that page.
1. Navigate to the download link. You can bring up your web rotor (VO-U) and
set it to "Links" (by simultaneously pressing your up and left arrow keys).
Then arrow down to "this download link" in the links menu and press return.
You can alternatively use item chooser menu (VO-I) to navigate to "this
download link". I typed "d o w" and then arrowed down to the item and pressed
return. Another way to get to exactly that item with item chooser menu is
after typing "d o w", type "l i n k". That will filter out the three items
which contained the word "download" in your item chooser menu to exactly the
one item that also is a link. Then press return to go there.
2. To play the audio, now that focus is on the link, use VO-Space to play the
audio. If that doesn't work, route your mouse cursor to your VoiceOver cursor
with VO-Command-F5, then click on the link with VO-Shift-Space. That will open
a web page where the mp3 file plays. If you want to pause, rewind, or
otherwise control the player controls, navigate to relevant items in the video
element controller. If for some reason you don't find these controls coming up
immediately, interact with the HTML area (VO-Shift-Down arrow), and if you need
to, interact again with the video element controller toolbar.

The second question was about how to "right click" with a Mac, and presumably
how to save the downloaded file.

First, by way of background, Teresa is correct, the "right click" of a mouse
button is meant to bring up a contextual menu. And for the record, I don't use
a mouse either. VoiceOver implements two software commands that sometimes are
used in this situation. One is VO-Space, which means "perform the default
action" for the situation. That could be clicking a button, activating a link,
checking a check box, etc. VO-Shift-Space is a software definition to produce
a mouse click. I specify these as software links because they only work in
VoiceOver, and because there can be situations where they don't work in apps
with problematic accessibility, or web pages which may be imperfectly coded ---
which means that they work in most situations, but may to exactly adhere to
strict coding rules of the web consortia.

Max is correct that a "right click" on a mouse is equivalent to a "Control
click" on a Mac -- where that means that with your mouse cursor routed to your
VoiceOver cursor you press the Control key and also click the trackpad. That's
a hardware equivalent -- it always works, regardless of software coding. Your
son, or anyone else, can use that gesture on a Mac in place of a right click
with a mouse button.

3. In order to save the linked file as an mp3 file, you need to follow the
instructions on the web page and choose "Save linked file as…" NOT "Save linked
file to Downloads"

If you follow the web page instructions, you will be able to save the linked
file as an mp3 file. If you don't use "Save linked file as…" but instead use
"Save linked file to Downloads" you will always get the HTML page. This has
nothing to do with VoiceOver accessibility and everything to do with following
instructions -- if you ask your sighted son to choose the "Save linked file to
Downloads", he will also get an HTML file.

So when you use the contextual menu (VO-Shift-M) on the link, arrow down to
"Save linked file as …" and press return. Alternatively, if you want it to
play the track in iTunes, you can choose "Open with iTunes" -- but you will not
be downloading the actual file, just a pointer to the streamed mp3 file on the
web site that will be added to the iTunes library.

HTH. Cheers,

Esther
