Hank, THe way this would work is you setup iTUnes Match and once everything is completed you do the following. You locate the tracks you want to replace and delete them. Be aware that they will still appear in your Library, but what you will find is an iCloud download button and you use this to pull the new file down. A few things to keep in mind. First you must be sure your tracks have the same ID3 tag info as what the iTunes store has and as far as I can tell the only important things are track titles and album titles, but I suspect track titles are more important. SOme things that are not available via the iTunes store will seemingly when deleted and downloaded come back as a 256 MP3 file. Not sure how the backend process works, but not a bad deal. In general for $24.99 for the year it is a good deal if you want to swap out crappy sounding tracks for something with better audio quality.
Now of course make sure you have a backup because I am only relating my experience by messing around. If the world comes to an end, I take no responsibility. :) Actually you should not have any problems, but it will take time for all your stuff to be uploaded, so be prepared.
