Hi Chris Blouche, That the labels ar reversed, I had not noticed yet. I revisited sharing and I understand it now. Wrong button labeling. Hmm. Do you know if accessibility knows about it? What I don't understand still, is the credentials thing, when sharing mac files for windows using smb. I'll tell you how I think it is, and if I'm wrong, please correct me.
First I go to sysprefs sharing. There I turn file sharing on. Then I go into options there, and I turn the smb checkbox on. This allows windows users to log in to the mac. For a person on windows to log in to my mac, they must be asked for a name and password. I suppose, that because I am the only user of windows and the mac, I can open up my own daily user account for the network. I do this by checking my username in sharing. In fact, by enabling my mac account in sharing, it means that my mac username and password will be valid from now on, to log in to the mac from elsewhere. Now, to log in from windows, I should connect to the ip address of the mac, and then when asked for name and password, fill in my mac account credentials. Not my windows ones. Correct?
