Text Edit is not very sophisticated it's comparable to Wordpad/notepad. But it's great place to just write and change fonts and stuff like that.
Something I do frequently is write in TextEdit and convert to Pages. But the Bean program might do more to. I'm going to download this thing and work with it a bit.
