Hi Carolyn, The eyepal actually needs a computer, either a windows or mac will do ostensibly. The EyePal solo works without a computer.
I work pretty closely with the humanware people on demoing products and I think this was just an honest mistake. They had just received it back from a CNIB office that was showing it, and wanted to get it out to me as soon as they could.
