Hi Westley:
It's fairly easy to set VO to give you time and date. You'll need to go into
voiceover utilities with control-option-f8. use down arrow to go down to
commanders. Select this with VO (control option) spacebar. Vo-arrow right
until you hear keyboard commander and select this with vo-spacebar. Tab to
"enable keyboard commander and select it (vo-spacebar), Now, your choices are
to use right or left option key as a modifier. Select use right option key
(vo-spacebar). tab, and there's a little table of commands, You should hear
the letter t, followed by "run apple scripts script for time and day".
now tab back to utility categories and arrow up to general. tab to "allow
voiceover to be controled by Apple script." Enable this. Now, you can exit
Vo-utilities with command Q.
If you press right option Key, and the ltter t, Voiceover will speak the date
and time. There is also a default setting wherein with this arrangement, right
option S will open Safari for you from anywhere.
If you are new to all of this, it's not as complicated as it may seem initially.
Hope this has helped.
