Nicolai, I only just discovered growl today. I am still learning what a mac can do for the blind. I didn't see a speech option on the control panel configuration for growl.
I haven't figured out how to get it to work with skype either. I do like the fact that it does work nicely with Adium (an all-in-one sms/im client) I wouldn't mind an ability to read irc chats automatically.
