I am learning grade 1 now (on my own). the state seems to think that learning braille isn't an "immediate need". Frankly, I think it is (along with independent living skills and O&M training). They have on the priority 1 group but have deferred my status indefinitely (my case comes up for review again in 6 months). I find that to be unacceptable as I need training for jobs I am being offered NOW. no training = no job. Sometimes I don't understand why they are so penny wise and pound foolish. An employed disabled person is still a return on investment rather than a drain on the system.
