There is no reason not to ask for this support and there was efforts made to have this as an option or an easier option. However, sometimes things do not work as expected and the feeling is the need is not great enough. THere are work arounds for most of these cutting and pasting issues, but again, if you feel strongly, then send Apple a note, it will be considered based on demand and other priorities.
