Hi Dónal,
You need to use the delete key (without holding down the Control and
Option keys) just after you've created the new group, while it is
highlighted, and before you move around. If you try to go to the
group and interact, and then press the delete key, your Mac will
indeed try to delete the group entry.
If you want to change the name of a group you've created, try the
following:
1. Go to the group you want to edit and interact (e.g., if you were
starting from scratch, you would naviagate to the groups table of
Address Book and interact, then VO down arrow to the entry of interest.
2. VO-Command-F5 to move the mouse cursor to the VoiceOver cursor
3. Click with VO-Shift-Space on the group name entry.
4. Press the delete key and type in the new group name.
Let us know if this works for you. And, that was a nice write-up of a
work around in Marie's blog.
Cheers,
Esther

Ah interesting :) OK what happens in this one (for me) is this:
1. I go to the group I want to edit;
2. I interact with it. Vo says "interacting with edit text"
3 I press delete, at which point it tries to delete the group rather
than the text.
I tried the workaround of:
1. finding the group;
2. turning off VO;
3. pressing "enter" and then deleting.
However this also didn't work.
I'll keep playing with it, but it might be nice if a few others
could take a look so we can isolate a set of circumstances in which
this happens. Might not be a bug, just an unexpected "feature".

oh I hadn't experienced that. Maybe you might want to report it. :)

Nice workaround Marie Cheers !:)
I presume the other part of this bug, namely where pressing the
delete key delets the group rather than editing the name has also
been reported to Apple?

OK, good news, there's a work around.
Check out this blog and I give instructions how to get around
this problem in address book.

Hi,
Ok I'm having one of those days I'd rather forget, because I've
done so many daft things on my machine. Can I blame the exams
I've been grading? <smile>
Anyways, I'm trying to add a new group in adddressbook. So I've
done the following:
1. gone to the popup menu, and selected "add new group".
2. tried to give it a name;
3. failed dismally.
The problem seems to be that I can't edit the group name.
Interestingly, when I go back to the "groups" table and
interact, VO seems to be getting confused. It says it's
highlighting row two, yet won't allow me to go to a different row.
Suggestions welcome... I think I need more tea :-)
Cheers
Dónal
