It's really the responsibility of Apple Support to solve this problem

Guess again. I've been trying to get them to tell me how to solve it
for fifteen years. If I had a mouse, or if I hooked up muy trackpad, I
would just finger around until I found whatever it is on the screen
that wants me to do something. I even tried VOCR, and it couldn't find
anything to show me or tell me. This is quite aggravating, to say the
least.
Regarding what's Apple's job to tell me, I've been in this game long
enough to know that those folks, good as they are, don't know
everything, especially on the disability support line. The last person I
talked to who was trying to help me do non-contiguous file selection in
Finder freely admitted that she was still learning VoiceOver. Turns out,
I was trying to learn how to do non-contiguous item selection in Finder
from a video that was out o f date or neglected to include a particular
but critical detail. The support specialist even admitted that, when she
found this detail, it was buried deep within the overall documentation
about file selection.
