With Ethernet connected, there has been no change. When I watch
episodes, they are marked as watched.
But the next day those episodes are marked as unwatched. And so I
fix that in the library database. Turn on Apple TV and launch the
computer app and open the TV series, launch the next unwatched episode,
Apple TV complains it cannot find content. Every time this requires I
restart Apple TV.
I cannot pin down where the issue is.
From E.T.'s Keyboard...
Reality.sys corrupted. Universe halted. Reboot(Y/N) ?

You're right, that does sound stupid. Surely if you start the Mac up before the
Apple TV, it should always be found as the Mac advertisement will be picked up
by the TV when it boots. Not sure why it's so hit and miss for you. I'd suggest
connecting your Mac and Apple TV to your network using Ethernet if you have not
already done so.
