I am retiring a late-2020 Mac Mini and replacing it with one of the new
zippy-doo M4 models. The new one's already in the house, but before I
put it on the network and set it up, which I'm fairly sure I know how to
do, having done it many times before for myself, my wife and others, I
just want to make sure that I correctly and completely remove my old
Mini from my and Apple's life. Here's what I know to do:
1. Export my VoiceOver profile so I can apply it on the new machine as
soon as it's on the network.
2. Turn off "Find My."
3. Collect all registration information for applications I'll be
installing on the new system.
4. Shut the system down and remove the FitHeadless dongle from the HDMI
port.
5. Wire up the Mini to a monitor so I can get help booting into Recovery
Mode if I can't get the normal acepted procedure to work without it.
6. Boot into Recovery Mode.
7. Bring up VoiceOver and erase the internal drive with Disk Utility.
8. Shut it down, pack it up, and send it off to the trade-in people to
get my $415 applied to the cost of its replacement.
Did I forget anything?
