I think this is definitely a great point. But my argument would be this, if you weren't working in a call centre or somewhere that requires specific systems to be in place, it's possible to use whatever computer you feel comfortable with. And that goes for everyone. I'm guessing VR is an organisation, kind of like Action for the blind here, and for those who are under those services, I accept what you're saying. However, my point was this, most of these organisations still assume all VI users are utilising windows and a third party screen reader. They are not open to other possibilities practically.
