The iPhone 15 is only my 3rd phone in what, 15 years. I was not
interested in beta driving the 16 when I went shopping earlier this
month. Went from iOS 16 to 17 to 18 in the space of 2-3 days. The best
perk is the now native Passwords app.

Yeah, like I said, if I had the 15, I’d probably sit tight.

after using my 8 plus for 11 years, and yes, still on the original battery,
I chose the iPhone 15 plus. My life does not revolve around my iPhone. So far
the 15 plus works fine. Battery life is wonderful.

As things stand right now, the primary speed bump for Apple Intelligence (which
just so happens to abbreviate to AI) is the requirement for 8 GB RAM. And since
my iPhone 15 Pro Max already has that, and since the upgrade to the 16 series
is relatively incremental otherwise (but for the notable exception of Wi-Fi 7,
which I can live without for a spell longer, given that I already have 6E),
there is realistically no case for the upgrade.
As to Pro vs non-Pro, honestly it comes down to a few interesting but largely
ineffectual accessibility features that Apple currently provide and which
exercise lidar. These are not essential, but are nice to have on top of the
fast USB-C transfer speeds and bigger batteries of the Pro models. If, in
future, the batteries and USB improve, I'll seriously consider moving to the
standard track, because I don't much enjoy throwing my money away either.
