I personally don’t believe this to be true, I have a number of times reinstalled from scratch the Mac OS version without sighted assistance and from a similar state to which you find yourself in.
If you have a USB Flash drive of approx. 8 GB then you could do this yourself without issue. After pressing the “continue” button several times, I was told that I was not entitled to do this by Apple. Now, I have a bit of a hearing loss, and Voice Over with Fred is not always clear to me, but that’s what it sounded like. Does anyone on this list have a clue as to how I proceed, or does my Mac have to go to the hospital?
