You bet. I experimented with the command option up and down and
found it much easier to just use command up and down to collapse
folders. When I am moving or copying files/folders, I simply need to
control tab between Finder tabs. I did a lot of this yesterday and today
as I was doing year end tasks and backups.

Sorry, that should be control-tab for Finder. In Finder preferences set it
to open in new tabs. Press command-t to open a new tab. Vy default it will open
to the desktop folder. Navigate to any folder. You can do this any number of
times and simply cycle them with control-tab and close any with command-w.

I've never tried command-o to open a folder. I use that for programs or apps. I
assume that when I open a folder it opens in the same window I'm in. that may
not be what's happening because if I had 2 windows open so I could easily copy
files, every folder I had passed through in order to reach my destination would
be open. I would hit them all when I was cycling. I was trying to find a way to
avoid that and I think I have.

style. I still prefer “column” mode except when I need to get more information
about a item without getting all the details in command-i. Column mode will
navigate into and out of folders with left and right keys and will navigate
within a folder with the arrow keys. I believe that column mode is always
sorted by name, but could be mistaken.

closed except for the 2 that I wanted to copy and paste between. I used to be

destination had become part of the cycle. somebody here mentioned opening and
closing windows using command-down and up arrows. I had been doing this without
the option and including it in the command has cleared up the problem for me.
