Cellular? Chris, you were explain this the correct way. Yes I suggest leave all the Wi-Fi cyst stuff alone, and less it is turned on. Reason why say and with it is turned on, is because if the Wi-Fi signal is weak, it will use that data now, and referencing the whole data thing, the only thing that you can't receive, if selling your data is turned off that you might wish to receive his text messages at least that's the way it was with AT&T. Now I'm not sure what Verizon but there's no doubt in my mind, that is so your data is turned off, date they won't do you want to get their phone calls and I got mine whenever I was AT&T customer and I did this on my 5S. If they want a second opinion, I can definitely call me get one. I choose not to have a long-range on IOS via email. As you, and I know, that I do my best at explaining things via voice. As you called me, and got in my opinion before then it would be the best thing for them to do. Especially, if they're warning a very valuable second opinion that will be just as good as yours Joseph Hudson Group administrator for the following groups chat http://list.ntxability.org/mailman/listinfo/chat_list.ntxability.org blind apples http://cruising.ultragroups.com/mailman/listinfo/blindapples_cruising.ultragroups.com blind square GPS http://cruising.ultragroups.com/mailman/listinfo/blindsquaregps_cruising.ultragroups.com blind handyman http://cruising.ultragroups.com/mailman/listinfo/blindhandyman_cruising.ultragroups.com iPad help for the blind https://groups.io/g/IPadhelpfortheblind Email jhud7...@gmail.com I device support Telephone 2543007667 Skype joseph.hudson89 facebook https://www.facebook.com/joseph.hudson.9404 Twitter https://twitter.com/josephhudson89 FaceTime/iMessage jhud7...@yahoo.com On Nov 2, 2016, at 11:30 AM, Christopher-Mark Gilland <clgillan...@gmail.com> wrote: Guys, I don't know how to better explain this, and honestly, I'm getting a bit agrevated trying to do so. Maybe one of you can chime in and help me out. I have a friend who is on this list. I'm not going to reveal which member it is, as I don't wish to put anyone here on the spot. I'm not even going to reveal their gender. Anyway, he/she has just recently obtained an iPhone. They are incredibly new to the iPhone world. In fact, they are new to the smart phone world in general. When they go into settings, Cellular, they see things using data like Apple Music, YOutube, etc. I tried to explain to them that yes, those things are turned on, as they are set to where cellular data is allowed to be used with the apps. I told them that if they either turn off any of those apps, or for that mind, do what they wanna do by totally turning cellular off completely, that's not a very wise idea in most cases. I tried explaining that when cellular is off, then nothing will work if they're on the Verizon cellular 4G/LTE network. The only time they'd have data internet connectivity would be if they were on a wifi network. Obviously, they don't believe me, or don't understand, one of the two. I don't know how to explain this any easier. I told them that all they're doing by disabling those apps under there like Apple Music, etc. is, they're not disabling the apps from currently! using data. All they're doing is disabling the apps so they never! will use cellular. The example I gave them was, if they turn off Apple Music, then any time they move out of range of their wifi, they won't be able to use Apple Music, as they've disabled it from being able to be used with Cellular. I told them, if they turn off cellular entirely, then they won't be able to receive phone calls nor make calls, etc. unless they are on a wifi network, as they do have wifi calling enabled. Of corse, if they're on wifi, then their internet would also work regardless, but as soon as they move away from the wifi range, their internet would go kaput and so would their incoming and outgoing calls. I tried explaining that by it saying those apps use cellular data, that doesn't mean they're necessarily using their 6 gigs of data right then and there. The only time that happens is if they're not on a wifi network, at which point, it falls back to their LTE cellular data. As long as they are on a wifi network, it would not use their 6GB data plan. Again, I'm not gonna reveal who it is, but they are on this list, and they definitely do check their mail from this list on a regular basis, so if you respond, I know they'll see it, beyond a doubt. Perhaps one of you all who're a little more patient today can explain this. They told me that they called Verizon, and Verizon is telling them to always leave cellular completely turned off regardless if they are on wifi or not. I find that extremely perplexing, as why the hell would you want your cellular to always be off. O, Kayyy. I know places where yes, you may want it off, but not 100% of the time. Come on! Really? I don't doubt what they're telling me Verizon said to them, and honestly, it doesn't exactly surprise me that a rep would a told them this, but I will leavbe my personal opinions out, and spare you all. Anyway, how else do I explain how that cellualr screen works, and what it does? Also, they're wonderring in that screen at the veryh bottom what wifi assist is. I wish they'd leave that stuff back their alone, as I know what's probably gonna happen. They're gonna start turning stuff on/off then will dm me on Twitter and be like, Chris, why is X, y, and Z not working? Then, I'm gonna be lost, as I don't know what they shut on and off. I keep telling them, if it isn't broken, don't try fixing it, but, they wanna obviously be adventurous, which is fine, to a point, but why ask me what something does, if you're only then gonna turn around and say, well, not according to what x person/persons tell/tells me. I mean, Gawod! Why're you asking me my opinion if you're then gonna say, not true from what I hear. They tell me they believe me, but, if they do, then why do they contradict every blessid thing I say? I don't clame to know everything, no, and I have no issues with getting 2nd opinions, but that's really rude when asked for help, I provide, then you turn around in my face and say well, that's not true according to whoever intity. If you think what I'm saying isn't gonna be true, then why're you asking me to start with! OK, rant over. Does anyone know how better to explain this screen, and maybe why ideally, you'd want to leave cellular on? Does anyone know further how to convince this person that as long as they're on a wifi network, that they're not eating up their 6GB data? I'm! obviously not gonna convince them, and frankly, I'm tired of trying to do so, with all due respect to them. Smile.
