Subject: Re: It's pointless!

Hi
I don't think "convert" is the right idea here. It makes it sound like a
religion, and I don't like religions let alone making one out of something
like a computer. The important thing is for people to know their options,
that they have options, and to try and keep their minds open. Those who like
the Mac will explore it, those who don't want to switch to another platform
will not. There's the closed-minded types on both sides of the fence as
well, and talking to someone who is determined to keep their mind closed
regardless of the topic of conversation is pointless.
In my case, there are two people who have tried the Mac at my suggestion.
Both have really liked it and both now own Macs and use them as their
primary machine. However, they were already sick to the teeth of Windows and
the accompanying problems a screen reader creates in that environment. In
the end, people will be drawn to the tools they enjoy using the most. What
we must fight is closed-mindedness and the disinformation of the type it
seems the blind organizations and AT vendors are determined to spread.
I use the Mac because it does everything I need, is simple, and accessible
out of the box. I have to admit to some brand loyalty to Apple as well as a
result of their push for accessibility in the past few years. I, personally,
think it's a much better system. We must recognize, though, that this is
subjective and in the end comes down to an individual's needs and/or
preferences.

to convert a Windows user to the Mac. Can it be done?
