Donna, if you would like, I can try to find out for you where this setting
is, I think it's under settings, general, accessibility, but you can
actually set 3D touch to not be quite so sensitive. Would that be something
you'd be interested in me teaching you how to do?

hard, but when I deliberately tried a lighter touch, it worked just fine.
