Hi Yuma,

I think I gave the link to DTalker in this post from a month ago:

http://www.mail-archive.com/macvisionaries%40googlegroups.com/msg11264.html
(Re: japanese local settings keyboard and voice over)

but maybe it wasn't clear that the voices were separately available,
since I described that this voice was used by people who needed a
Japanese voice for the earlier Visiovoice release, since the Infovox
iVox voices only worked for European and slavic languages, and then
later for Arabic and Turkish. I also said that you would have to run
the page through Google translate to read the content, but I didn't
give instructions on how to do it or excerpt bits of the translated
content. It is, of course, a severe disadvantage that until you
actually have a voice that reads Japanese with VoiceOver that you
can't directly read the contents of any pages that are written in
Japanese. You can actually read the web pages in Japanese with
VoiceOver in Safari on the iPhone if you select the link from your
mail. If I do a two finger upwards flick on the linked web page, even
though I have my language set to English, the page reads out in
Japanese (which I don't speak). So you could try selecting the link
to DTalker in this mail message on your iPhone and checking whether
you can read it:

Hope this helps.

P.S. If this works for you, maybe you can read the Japanese web pages
on your iPhone, or you could send the Japanese PDF text files through
MobileMe or through some other such service and read them on your
iPhone.

Cheers,

Esther
