Hi Alia,

Braille is slower but more accurate. For example, I had to double check the
spelling of your name just now. Using speech this took far longer finding an
instance of the name then arrowing through the letters. It would have been
instantaneous if I were reading your emails with braille, the process totally
streamlined.

Speech is a tool and braille is a tool. They are both valuable; Howver, the
simple fact of the matter is that non braille users are functionally iliterate.
Their ability to spell goes away. Communicating proper names becomes an utter
chore. foreign language words are hopeless.

Multi-tasking can be difficult, IE, taking notes while on the phone. For me,
this is so much easier with braille than speech. Often I want to read
articles. Other times I want to listen to them.

So, I know it's important for me to have braille. I believe it's important for
every one to have braille. I could live without braille if I had to, but I
would never choose to.

The brailleedge is a good little device. I wish they had a 32 cell version.
My other favourite is the Brailliant BI. Both well-built devices with two year
standard warrantees, executive case options, superb cross platform support and
more.

Best,
