Just as a point of interest:
I've been using the iTunes beta for some time, and this problem only showed up 
in the final release.

My daughter has yet to update to 10.9.3, so I'm going to update iTunes first 
and that way I can isolate whether it's the new iTunes or the Mavericks update 
that has caused the problem. Should make it a bit easier for Apple 
Accessibility to focus on what broke.
