Hi,

I'm guessing that their support person wasn't totally familiar with the Mac.  
As I mentioned, I expect that he/she meant that you should ctrl-click on the 
app then choose "Move to Trash" from that menu in order to uninstall.  
Command-double-click simply opens the app.
